Happy Mother's day from us at the Kennel Report. Here are a few things to get you caught up as the weekend comes to a close...
-Today was the finale in the Arizona Cactus Classic. The only team of any real significance as far as potential Gonzaga recruits was Boo Williams who features big man Ricardo Ratliffe (right). Boo Williams fell in their initial game of the day to Houston Hoops, the eventual champions. Boo Williams was only able to muster up 38 points as Houston's defense shut down their attack. Ratliffe, who has been steady all weekend had 7 points and added 6 rebounds in their loss. Houston went on to defeat Wisconsin Playground 53-52 in a fantastic game and then took down Compton Magic 70-67.
-The Gonzaga Baseball team is closing out another successful season and will close out their home schedule at Patterson Complex with games on Monday and Tuesday. The Zags will take on Lewis-Clark State on Monday and state rival Washington State on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will wrap up their 2008 season in L.A. next weekend in a three-game series with Loyola Marymount. Players to watch as the season finishes up are Evan Wells and Ryan Wiegand. Wells currently has a 21 game hit streak and Wiegand leads the WCC in four offensive categories including hits, doubles, total bases, and runs batted in. The Zags are also looking to reach the thirty-win plateau. They currently stand 28-20 on the year. Go out and support the Zags on Monday and Tuesday as they close out another great year at Patterson Baseball Complex.
