Joe Burton is Off the Board

It was Pac-10 or bust for West Valley big man Joe Burton. The 6'8'' load from California has committed to recent Pac-10 basement dweller Oregon State. Burton has been high on Oregon State throughout the duration of his recruitment and coach Craig Robinson was able to lock Burton up last night.

Burton was OSU's second commitment of the day as earlier Ahmad Starks, a 2010 guard, also pledged to be a Beaver.

Burton was on the Zags radar but it was very difficult to gauge what kind of interest either side had. Gonzaga definitely seemed to turn the pressure up in recent weeks but Burton was set on the Pac-10 from jump street. This leaves Gonzaga with a smaller list of big man prospects including, Sam Dower, Anthony Stover, Bak Bak, and others.

It's time for Few and the staff to lock up a verbal for 2009 to jump start this class. The Zags scored an early commit with Mangisto Arop who continues to blow up but everyone in Spokane knows that the Zags need immediate help in the post to continue dominance.
