It was a tale of two matches today for the GU volleyball team. Coming off of a terrific performance in their season opener, the Lady Zags could not match their performance from earlier today, as they fell to the University of Montana. The Lady Zags played hard, but could not match the Grizzlies, who won the match 3-1, with scores of 25-14, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18.
The Lady Zags were not able to match their terrific attacking performance from the earlier match. However, Elaina Renius, Emily Johnson, and Caitlin Cozad were able to put together strong performances. These 3 were able to produce at least 9 kills each during the match, with Renius leading the way with 16 kills. Denise Van De Mortel continued to impress, as she was able to record 37 assists. The Lady Zags could not overcome numerous errors throughout the match, and it was the Lady Grizzlies who wer able to come out with the solid win.
The Montana Invitational will continue tomorrow, and the Lady Zags will take on both UC Riverside and North Dakota St. Although they will not be happy with the performance tonight, this is a resilient squad, and GU fans should expect a solid performance tomorrow.
