Volleyball Drops Finale

In a tense match up, between two very even teams, the women's volleyball team fell to Weber State in the Gonzaga Volleyball Tournament finale. It took four sets to separate the two teams, as GU lost 3-1, with scores of 20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 24-26. The ladies went 2-1 in the tournament, and their record now stands at 4-7.

It was the usual faces leading GU, as both Elaina Renius and Denise Van De Mortel were name to the All-Tournament team. Against Weber State, Renius led the team with 18 kills, while Van De Mortel recorded 44 assists and 12 digs. This marks the third double-double of the season for the freshman setter. Van De Mortel has now made the All-Tournament team at the past two tournaments that she has participated in.

This week will see the team travel to Pittsburgh, where they will participate in the University of Pittsburgh Tournament. Before they leave, the ladies will host the University of Idaho on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. This week will be the last chance for the Bulldogs to warm up for WCC play, as that begins in early October.
